Just In:Mark Stoops Bagged a 4-Years, $100,000 million Deal Offer, Setting a Massive Record!!
Earlier this month, Mark Stoops’ coaching contract, which is among the best in college football, got much better.
Chris Vannini of The Athletic reports that Stoops agreed to a contract extension with Kentucky that would expire in June 2031. The agreement gives him almost $100,000 more than John Calipari and increases his income to $8.6 million year (up from $6.35 million).
It is interesting to note that, because the contract was signed the day before the Vanderbilt loss, a press release was scheduled to be issued on November 18th to convey the news.
When Stoops took over as head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats in 2013, he took over a squad that had finished 2-10 and without an SEC victory the year before. With a 65-58 record in his tenth season, Stoops has surpassed Paul “Bear” Bryant as the program’s all-time winningest coach and the first to have a winning record since 1961.
