In a moment that underscores both his legendary career and character, Novak Djokovic has been named the recipient of the 2025 ATP Sportsmanship Award, recognizing not only his exceptional performance on the court but also his leadership, respect for opponents, and impactful humanitarian work.
The announcement was made earlier today by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), with officials praising Djokovic for embodying the values of fairness, professionalism, and community service during a standout season.
At 38, the 24-time Grand Slam champion continues to defy expectations, not just with his historic achievements in tennis but also with his evolving role as a mentor and advocate within the sport. This marks the first time Djokovic has received the ATP’s prestigious Sportsmanship Award, an honor traditionally associated with players known for exemplary conduct, such as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
“Novak’s commitment to excellence goes far beyond what he does between the lines,” said ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi. “His support for younger players, promotion of mental wellness in sport, and work through the Novak Djokovic Foundation make him a role model for athletes across generations.”
Djokovic’s off-court contributions in 2025 have included significant donations to early childhood education in Eastern Europe, global mental health awareness campaigns, and player-led initiatives to improve conditions on the ATP Challenger Tour. He also continued to serve as an influential voice on the ATP Player Council.
In response to the honor, Djokovic released a heartfelt statement:
> “Tennis has given me so much, and I’ve always believed it’s my responsibility to give back — to the sport, to the next generation, and to the communities that need it most. This award means a great deal to me.”
As Djokovic prepares for the North American hard court swing and the upcoming US Open, this recognition further cements his legacy — not just as one of the greatest players of all time, but as one of the most respected figures in the game.
