In a rare Instagram photo, Janet Jackson and her niece Paris Jackson displayed their affection for one another. The star captioned the photo, saying, “So lovely catching up w/ my gorgeous niece @parisjackson.” Paris left a straightforward black heart as a remark on the post.
The picture was taken this weekend in France during a fashion week party, according to People. The publication added that this might be Janet and Paris’s first official picture together since 2009, when they got back together for Paris’s late father Michael Jackson’s memorial. The 23-year-old has maintained a very private connection with her family, particularly in the wake of backlash at her decision to skip the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, when Janet was awarded the esteemed Icon title.
“No one from my mgmt came out to me about attending billboards or about the award, and no one from my family did either,” Paris wrote on Instagram following the performance. It was not until you all started spewing hate that I knew.”
She has also discussed the media attention that has been focused on her relationship with her well-known relatives. She previously said on Instagram, according to People.v, “Dear social media followers, friends, stalkers, lovers and haters, and fellow moonwalkers: Please do not tell me/demand/try to control how I conduct my relationship with the people in my life, notably my family.”
