Hollywood actress Holly Marie Combs has announced her retirement because of…
Holly Marie Combs, the original cast member of “Charmed,” retaliated against Sarah Jeffery, the star of the revival, after the young actress referred to her and Rose McGowan as “sad” and “pathetic” for their critical remarks about the new program.
In a recent video, Combs, 46, and McGowan, 47, attacked the “Charmed” revival. Throughout the chat, McGowan claimed she had not seen the reboot, but Combs laughed every time she remarked that it “sucks.”
The 24-year-old Jeffery attacked the original cast members, accusing them of “putting down other WOC.” Melonie Diaz, Jeffrey, and Madeleine Mantock, the current “Charmed” leads, are all women of color.
She continued, saying: “It is just plain wrong for people to speak—pardon my typing—derogatory charges of someone in character despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary because of disagreements about a television program. Moreover, honey, for personal benefit.”
A fan added, “I do not think she made an accusation,” in response to Combs. I believe she noticed something. You guys are really pushing back against the show that at last allows your fans of color to see “Charmed” characters who resemble them. I wish you could all see the significance of that. The fact that you do not hurts.
That is not my aggressive side. I chuckled. Combs clapped back, saying, “Trust.” “I am well aware of the unfair casting practices and the outdated notions of success-making formulas.”
The eerie drama’s initial cast ran from 1998 to 2006 before being revived in 2018 with a new cast of actors.
Original cast members Combs, McGowan, Shannen Doherty, and Alyssa Milano have been vocal opponents of the revival from its announcement since it was positioned as more “fierce, humorous, and feminist” than the original.
