Two guards for the South Carolina women’s basketball team were placed on the John R. Wooden Award watch list on Thursday. Both MiLaysia Fulwiley and Te-Hina Paopao are on the 50-player watch list. The LA Athletic Club announced today that MiLaysia Fulwiley and Te-Hina Paopao, guards for the South Carolina women’s basketball team, were selected for the John R. Wooden Award, which is given by Principal, Preseason Women’s Top 50 Watch List.
With eye-catching moves in the season opener, Fulwiley made her college debut and progressively improved her skills to earn a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. In 23 double-figure scoring games, including three 20-point performances, she was the Gamecocks’ top scorer 11 times last season, which was second on the team.

Last season, she averaged 11.0 points and 3.7 assists per game, and against ranked opponents, those stats increased to 12.6 points and 4.0 assists per game.
