Here’s an #ABSENTIA interview by #Screenrant’s Tatiana Hullender… I was pretty careful about not spoiling….
Absentia’s third season premiered through Amazon Prime on July 17, and the thriller found its heroine fighting for her family once more. The series first aired in 2017, centering around Stana Katic’s scintillating performance as FBI agent Emily Byrne, who was rescued from captivity after six long years and left to put the pieces of her life back together as familiar threats resurfaced around her.
At the start of the third season, Emily is winding down her FBI suspension days but wavering about returning at all. Instead, she’s more focused on looking out for her son Flynn (Patrick McAuley) with the help of her ex-husband (Patrick Heusinger). But as tends to be the case, her plans are upended when a lead meant to solve the latest string of crimes leads danger right to her doorstep.
Katic, who not only stars in the Amazon drama but also executive produces it, spoke to Screen Rant at length about her passion for the series. She shared her insight into the creative process behind the scenes, and dove more deeply into Emily’s relationships with not only her family but also her begrudging source Kai (Kaja Chan) and her ex-partner at the FBI, Cal (Matthew Le Nevez). Specific spoilers were avoided, but it doesn’t hurt to binge season 3 before taking the plunge.
