Heart Breaking😥:Lane Kiffin reveals his approach to preparing for new Oklahoma offensive coordinator
Head coach Lane Kiffin faces a special task as Ole Miss gets ready to play Oklahoma. The offensive coordinator was replaced by the Sooners, raising concerns about what Oklahoma’s offense would look like.
“It is tough to forecast how the move will influence the offense,” Kiffin said in response to a question regarding the adjustment and how it would affect his strategy for game preparation. Therefore, altering his strategy is impractical.
“That is impossible to forecast,” Lane Kiffin stated. When someone has already been there and served as the coordinator, they typically do not change all that much. You can not figure it out even if there is. There is not a secret formula for determining their thoughts.
Seth Littrell was hired by Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables to succeed Jeff Lebby, who had accepted a position at Mississippi State. But because of the team’s offensive struggles, especially in SEC play, Venables decided to make another coordinator change. Joe Jon Finley, the tight ends coach and co-offensive
Notably, Finley spent a season as an offensive coach under Kiffin at Ole Miss. Additionally, he worked with Lebby at Oklahoma for several seasons.
Kiffin remarked, “It is not like Joe Jon was our coordinator here.” He served as the coach for tight ends. He has never made a play call. So, when he called plays, it was not like there was a movie to see.
With an average of only 22.1 points per game in 2024, Oklahoma is 107th in the nation in terms of scoring offense. Out of 16 teams in the SEC this season, that ranking places them 15th. This season, Oklahoma has averaged 13.5 points per game in its four SEC
Additionally, Oklahoma has been switching up its quarterbacks; at one time, Jackson Arnold was benched in favor of rookie Michael Hawkins. Arnold will now start versus Ole Miss one more.
