Formula 1 team leader charged with ‘destruction’…
A motorsport legend has told how a Formula One driver’s chances of success were “destroyed” by his former team manager. Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, moved to F2 in 2021 after two years at Haas. F1 headlines: Red Bull signs new driver, Hamilton takes the stage.
However, he showed a poor performance for the US national team, scoring only 12 points in 44 starts. The German was replaced by Nico Hulkenberg from the 2023 season, and has been serving as Mercedes’ reserve driver since the position became vacant.
His return to the grid was due in 2025 and he was previously linked with Williams before they signed Carlos Sainz. Now, with just two places remaining next year, it seems unlikely he will be able to secure a contract elsewhere, meaning he will likely have to spend another season away from racing. Former Formula 1 driver Hans-Joachim Stuck believes his compatriot has been unfairly overlooked by team management and has placed the blame on former Haas boss Guenther Steiner.
“He might have had a chance at Williams, but Audi was definitely not the right racing team.” Now there are younger riders coming up. Mick is not getting any younger. He will have every right to settle down and beat them.” Also read: Red Bull driver takes a serious hit and the team is set to “terminate” his contract this year.
