Former Kentucky Star Jamal Mashburn Expresses Desire to Become the Next Head Coach of Kentucky Basketball in 2026..
Jamal Mashburn Jr. of Temple kept making news with his outstanding on-court exploits. He was named the AAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts. It is unique because it is included on the midseason watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy.
These accomplishments demonstrated Mashburn’s supremacy in college basketball, especially in the AAC, where he has continuously produced high-scoring performances. After two outstanding games that helped Temple win important games, he was named the AAC Player of the Week for the second time.
The Owls’ next game was on February 6 at 7:00 p.m. ET, an away game against South Florida (11-11, 4-5 AAC). Mashburn Jr. played the full forty-five minutes without giving up a turnover in Temple’s victory over East Carolina in overtime. He made two of three three-point shots and made 10 of 16 field goals.
In addition to his weekly honors, Mashburn earned a spot on the Oscar Robertson Trophy midseason watch list. This recognition placed him among 50 players under consideration for the National Player of the Year award, as announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).
