Darrion Henry-Young, the former Kentucky and Ohio State defensive lineman, has officially announced that he will continue his college football career at Coastal Carolina University. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound defender enters his final year of eligibility with hopes of revitalizing his path after a challenging stint with the Wildcats.
Henry-Young transferred to Kentucky from Ohio State but saw limited action in Lexington due to injuries, including a torn ACL suffered during the 2024 season in a game against Mississippi State. Despite showing flashes of high-level talent with 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks before his injury, the depth on Kentucky’s defensive line and recovery setbacks limited his impact.
After returning for spring practices in 2025, Henry-Young faced stiff competition and ultimately decided to enter the transfer portal to seek more playing time. Coastal Carolina presented the opportunity for a fresh start and a key role on their defensive front.
“I’m grateful for my time at Kentucky and everything I learned,” Henry-Young said via social media. “But I’m excited for what’s ahead with Coastal. I’m ready to work and leave everything on the field.”
The Chanticleers, known for their aggressive defensive schemes, are looking to reinforce their defensive line and believe Henry-Young’s size, experience, and drive can provide immediate impact.
