The sportsman in question made it to the Grand Slam final in 2024 and has an incredible family net worth of £7.7 billion. That would be none other than Jessica Pegula, age 31. She is the daughter of Terry Pegula, a tycoon in the oil and gas industry. The Buffalo Sabres NHL franchise and the Buffalo Bills NFL team are both led by Jessica’s father.
He established a natural gas company in 1983 after receiving $7,500 from friends and relatives. Following significant financial gains from the use of hydraulic fracturing, Pegula sold the company’s operations in Pennsylvania, New York, and the Rocky Mountains to Royal Dutch Shell for approximately $4.7 billion.
Outside of tennis, Jessica has been able to pursue her own business endeavors because of her father’s money. She and her sister, Kelly, founded the Healthy Scratch restaurant at Buffalo, New York’s LECOM Harborcenter in 2016. However, the coronavirus pandemic held delayed another of her endeavors, Healthy Scratch food trucks, which had debuted in 2017 and had to close completely
Pegula has established herself as one of the best players in the women’s game, rising as high as number three in the world rankings in 2022. She has yet to win a Grand Slam championship, but last year she made it to the US Open final before losing in straight sets to Aryna Sabalenka.
