English remake of… to be directed, co-produced, and starring by Jodie Foster…
A translation of the thriller Woman at War into English will be directed, co-produced, and starring actress Jodie Foster. This film is Iceland’s entry for the Foreign Language category of the 91st Academy Awards.
According to variety.com, the middle-aged music teacher Halla (Foster) in the Icelandic film is intensifying her sabotage against the local aluminum sector after learning that her adoption application has been accepted and a newborn girl is waiting for her in the Ukraine.
“I am thrilled to lead a fresh American adaptation of this timely, lovely, and motivational tale. Halla is a powerful woman who risks everything to do the right thing and is a warrior for the world. But not without some major setbacks along the way,” Foster remarked, expressing her delight at the first movie being “beyond words,” according to a Deadline article.
In the Cannes Film Festival’s Critics’ Week category, the script took home the Best Script award.
The American West will be the new location, according to Foster. After Little Man Tate, Money Monster, The Beaver, and Home for the Holidays, this will be her sixth directing project.
For Silence of the Lambs and The Accused, she was awarded the Oscar for best actress.
