Running back Donovan Edwards was largely responsible for the Michigan Wolverines’ strong start against the Washington Huskies in Monday night’s National Championship. On Michigan’s first two drives of the game, Edwards scored two touchdowns. On their first drives, the Wolverines ran 12 plays in all, all culminating in an Edwards touchdown.
He scored on a 46-yard touchdown run after starting the game with a 41-yard one. Only twice did he touch the ball. The game was 14-3 in the first quarter, with Michigan leading. Since 1997, Michigan had been searching for their first national championship.
