What might a 44+ year old remake of the Colin Higgins office life comedy, which starred Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton, look like? It looks like we will soon find out.
Entertainment Weekly announced on Thursday that 20th Century Studios and Jennifer Aniston’s Echo Films production business will collaborate on a remake of “9 to 5,” with Diablo Cody (“Juno,” “Jennifer’s Body”) slated to write the screenplay. Fans of the original are already chiming in with their enthusiasm (or, in some cases, trepidation) and their choices for who should play the three famous lead roles—all enormous shoes to fill—despite the fact that casting information and a release date were not disclosed in the statement.
