Chappell Roan Rejects Film Offers Saying “Actors Are…”
Chappell Roan’s ascent to fame as a pop artist reached a new height when her album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, just behind Taylor Swift. According to Roan, who told cast member of “Saturday Night Live” Bown Yang for Interview magazine, the success of her music career is apparently drawing attention in Hollywood. In recent months, Roan has been receiving requests to play in films. For one reason only, Roan has rejected them all: “I say this
“I get so freaked out by film people,” Roan said. In the last several weeks, I have been asked, “Do you want to be the lead in XYZ?,” to which I replied, “No.” Not in the literal sense. I started out performing music to try to break into the acting industry, but after moving to Los Angeles, I was like, “Fuck that.”
She went on, “The industry is genuinely so scary, and it is so out of my control.” “I am free to release songs anytime I choose. I do not have to wait for a casting director to say anything like, “We will decide your calendar for the next three months, and it would be fantastic if we cast you.”
Roan is now declining acting roles, but she will not give up on Hollywood permanently. She stated that an acting role “would have to be incredibly specialized and really ridiculous” to begin with. Perhaps I would make a cameo. “Although I have been trained in acting, I find it to be the most stressful thing in the world,” she continued. “I would rather end up in jail.” since I am capable of running my own jail business… Yeah. It would truly need to be the appropriate action at the appropriate time.
