Central Michigan releases statement on Connor Stalions Netflix documentary
One day before the Netflix documentary about former Michigan employee Connor Stalions and his involvement in the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scheme that cast the reigning national champions in a negative light due to the NCAA, Central Michigan issued a statement.
“We acknowledge the conclusions drawn in the recently released Netflix documentary on former University of Michigan football employee Connor Stalions’ access to the CMU sidelines during our first game last September,” a statement from CMU read. “CMU has been completely cooperating with the NCAA’s ongoing inquiry for the last ten months, and we will keep working with the NCAA as it finishes its investigation. CMU is specifically forbidden by NCAA Bylaws from making any public remarks regarding the case’s specifics at this time. We are eager to share what we know and to resolve this issue in a fair and timely manner. We value our community’s patience and support.
A few weeks after the Chippewas and Spartans game, Stalions resigned as a recruiting assistant due to accusations of sign-stealing, which Central Michigan head coach Jim McElwain addressed. According to reports, Stalions bought tickets for over 30 games at 11 Big Ten institutions in the last three seasons under his own name.
