Breaking:Mark Edward Pope Turns down 1.4Million deal offer due to health issues Basketball star Mark Edward Pope is well-known for his coaching career, particularly as Brigham Young University's (BYU) head coach. Although he has had a big influence on collegiate basketball, I can not locate any mention of him having a health-related disagreement with the Kentucky Wildcats or being fired because of it. Only a few months into his job as head coach of Kentucky basketball, Mark Pope has already made history. A gritty 77-72 victory over then-No. 6 Duke in Atlanta earlier this season, followed by an exciting 90-89 overtime victory against No. 7 Gonzaga in Seattle, made Pope only the second Wildcats coach, after the great Adolph Rupp, to win his first two games against AP top-10 opponents, according to ESPN. Pope is demonstrating.
