Bruce Lee’s Daughter Shannon Pens Emotional Essay on 50th Anniversary of Dea….
2023 will be a very emotional year for Shannon Lee in terms of anniversaries.
Action movie titan Bruce Lee passed away on July 20, 1973, at the age of 32, fifty years ago. With roles in movies like as Fist of Fury and The Big Boss, Lee established himself as the face of martial arts cinema and helped to define the genre.
Before his untimely demise, Bruce had two children with his wife Linda Emery: Shannon and Brandon. Following in his father’s footsteps, Brandon worked on beloved films such as Showdown in Little Tokyo.
Twenty years after Bruce’s passing, in March 1993, Brandon was shot and killed on The Crow’s set by a costar with what they thought was a blank but turned out to be a live bullet.
Shannon is still profoundly affected by loving and losing her father and brother so young, even though it has been 50 and 30 years after their deaths, respectively.
Shannon’s father passed away from cerebral edema when she was just 4 years old. Today, she is an actress, producer, and board chair for the Bruce Lee Foundation. In addition, she serves as executive producer of the 2019 Cinemax series Warrior, which is based on the writings of her father.
Shannon, 54, shares a heartfelt piece on her loss and fond recollections of her Bruce and Brandon in this week’s issue of PEOPLE:
