Brian May claims that he “overreacted” to Freddie…
Brian May has been transparent about his emotions in the wake of Freddie Mercury’s passing.
Speaking on Saturday, April 22, at a Q&A session held at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, the guitarist said that the loss of Freddie affected him and Queen drummer Roger Taylor very hard.
According to the Daily Express, he stated, “I think that both Roger and me overreacted to Freddie’s death, if that is conceivable to say.”
Stated differently, we became so engrossed in our attempts to forget that we became excessively resentful and, for a while, we even denied Queen’s existence. I am positive that I did.
Producer Simon Lupton had asked Brian if recording his second solo album, Another World, and working on Queen’s posthumous 1995 album Made in Heaven had helped him get through his loss.
“In the end, you can not say, ‘Freddie, is that okay?'” he continued.
“That was difficult; it hurt for a very long time. Roger and I worked on this for over a year and a half, and it was a labor of love.”
This month saw the reissue of Brian’s 1992 solo debut Back to the Light, which was accompanied by a disc including bonus tracks. The release of Another World by Brian came after that of that album last year.
