Brian May, the guitarist for Queen, disclosed that he suffered a mild stroke recently that prevented him from using his left arm.
The lead guitarist and astrophysicist for the group informed fans last week that he had suffered a “health hiccup,” but he also assured them that he was on the mend and could resume playing music despite his temporary loss of limb control.
“I can play the guitar, which is excellent news,” May stated in a video that was posted on his website on Wednesday. “There was some uncertainty because of the brief health incident I mentioned about a week ago, which was diagnosed as a minor stroke. It was a little frightening because all of a sudden, I lost all control over my arm.”
May joked that he was sleeping, could not drive and fly, and that he could hear jets passing overhead in the footage that was taken outside.
“I truly do not desire pity,” the performer declared. “I dislike it when things clutter up my email, so please do not do that.”
The musician, who has led a decades-long battle to stop the culling of badgers, made the revelation a few weeks after the BBC Two documentary Brian May: The Badgers, the Farmers and Me aired.
