When Mathurin told 247Sports, “I committed because it was the emotion that I felt,”Additionally, I spoke with coach Kim Barnes Arico on campus.Back-to-back calls were flooding my phone when I initially reopened my recruitment. To be honest, I do not recall much of the chats, but I do recall talking about the game with Coach Arico.Michigan has been in the back of my thoughts ever since.I wanted to go the SEC or maybe the ACC, but I knew that Michigan would be my destination if I were to attend
According to Mathurin, her decision was influenced by her official visit to Michigan on July 2.She was able to observe the culture of the Wolverines during her stay and how she would blend in with the group.
She remarked, “I had a terrific time on my official.”“They fulfilled every requirement; the ambiance was wonderful and familial.I was certain that I wanted to take part in it.
Coach Arico dissected the team’s style of play during the visit.Mathurin believes the Wolverines can help her advance her career and that her style of play complements theirs at Michigan.
She stated, “The Big Ten as a whole is obviously very significant.”“I enjoy Michigan’s fast-paced style of play. They spend a lot of time reading and transitioning.I had the opportunity to observe one of their practices, and that is what I witnessed. When I get there, I might play combo guard or point, but I am not sure yet.In any case, I am confident that Coach Arico will position me for success.I can not wait for her to train me.”
She clarified, “Michigan’s recruitment classes were a factor coming into my decision,”“They placed in the middle of the Big Ten last year. However, they were at the top of the pack in the previous years.Their incoming freshmen class is ranked in the top eight, and they have made it to 20 straight NCAA appearances.I played against several of the AAU females that I knew.I am aware that they are also hiring some excellent bigs and 2025s.I am confident that I will blend in perfectly with that class.I was able to observe their practice as well, so I could see how they meshed with the group.
