BREAKING:Michigan football lands Georgia LB Troy Bowles via transfer portal
A former Georgia linebacker with a well-known last name committed to Michigan football on Saturday through the transfer site. Troy Bowles, the son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles, was the Wolverines’ sixth transfer portal commitment of the cycle. With a portal ranking of No. 15 for linebackers and No. 258 for players, Bowles is a three-star recruit in the transfer cycle.
Bowles only made three tackles this season while playing sparingly for the Bulldogs as a sophomore. In 2024, he also maintained his redshirt, which means he still has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
According to 247Sports’ Composite rankings, the 6-foot, 220-pound defense was ranked as the No. 80 overall player and the No. 6 linebacker, making him one of the top defenders of the 2023 recruiting class. At first, he had offers from a number of schools, including Ohio State, Oklahoma, and others.
