Miami’s history has 4-star DL Jalen Wiggins intrigued early on: “Miami is a team that can develop you and get you to the NFL
The Miami Hurricanes’ rich heritage is a major factor in Tallahassee, Florida, James Rickards four-star defensive lineman Jalen Wiggins’ interest in the team early in his recruitment process.
Miami is among his top schools for a number of reasons, but the Hurricanes’ historical performance is what makes them a program he is seriously considering, according to the Florida native, whose recruitment has taken off since the beginning of 2023.
“The heritage of Miami is what really appeals to me,” Wiggins told CaneSport. “I am aware of their prior defenses, and that has always caught my attention. One team that can help you grow and make it to the NFL is Miami.
As of right now, Wiggins, who the On3 Industry Ranking ranks as the 63rd best prospect in the 2025 class, has developed a close bond with Hurricanes defensive line coach Joe Salave’a, who has traveled to Tallahassee twice this season to watch him play.
“I really talk to him since he was the first person from Miami to come see me at my school,” Wiggins remarked. “I can tell he is the real deal because he is a huge person. He is really honest, which I appreciate.
Wiggins stated, “I think it is actually one of my main takeaways from Miami.” People who have played in the NFL understand what it takes to get there, so that is a huge thing to consider. You can also grow and learn from that.
