Breaking:Georgia football announces death of Uga X, winningest mascot in school history: ‘A Damn Good Dawg’
Uga X, the cherished mascot of the Georgia Bulldogs, passed away, the university’s sports association announced Tuesday. For nearly 70 years, the Savannah, Georgia-based Seiler family, headed by Charles Seiler, has kept up the mascot tradition. According to the family, Uga X passed away while sleeping at his Savannah home. He was ten years of age.
The Georgia Athletic Association released a statement saying, “We are devastated to announce that Uga X, popularly known as Que, passed away peacefully in his sleep earlier this morning.”
Following a collaring ceremony prior to Georgia’s matchup with Georgia Southern in November 2015, Uga X, often known as “Que,” formally assumed leadership. Following Georgia’s second consecutive College Football Playoff National Championship, Uga X announced his retirement.
