BREAKING:Four – Star wide receiver Derek Meadows gives the Alabama a much-needed recruiting victory by switching commitment from LSU to Alabama Crimson
During the first day of the early signing period, Alabama’s 2025 class took a surprising turn. The Crimson Tide added a top wide receiver to their impressive 2025 class on signing day when they acquired four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows from LSU.
Meadows is the No. 107 player and the No. 16 wide receiver in the USA and plays for powerful Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before Alabama made a huge late move to acquire the 6-foot-6 wideout, he had been committed to LSU since July 20. On Wednesday afternoon, Meadows formally added his name to the Alabama signee roster.
When Meadows first committed this summer, Alabama was among the finalist schools, along with LSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame. Despite LSU originally winning the contest for his pledge, he made an official visit to Tuscaloosa in June, and both sides continued to show interest.
Caleb Cunningham, a wide receiver from Mississippi, had committed to Alabama in November after the school acquired him in July. However, the Tide had a void for their second wide receiver in the class after a flip to Ole Miss. Meadows is a close substitute for Cunningham, despite Alabama’s efforts to keep the group small. He was outstanding during his senior season for Bishop Gorman and shares a similar build. During his final year, Meadows amassed 598 yards and seven aerial touchdowns.
