Breaking:Five-star DL Armondo Blount commits, rockets Canes’ 2025 class into top 10
Five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday, strengthening their 2025 recruiting class with a significant local acquisition. According to 247Sports, the Miami Central High School standout is ranked No. 1 among all Florida players in the 2025 recruiting cycle and No. 6 overall, regardless of position.
According to 247Sports, Blount has gotten at least 29 known offers during his recruitment. Before deciding to play for his hometown Hurricanes, Blount had previously stated a top five that included Miami, Florida State, USC, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. A day before he made his choice, Blount praised Miami’s culture.
Before making his choice, Blount told 247Sports on Wednesday, “Their culture as a team and the relationship they have as a team [stands out]”. “They are keeping South Florida youth, and their players play aggressively and they have a big bond.” Blount puts the Hurricanes’ 2025 recruiting class into the top 10 of 247Sports’ rankings for that cycle despite being only the third athlete in his cycle to pledge to Miami. Miami was ranked No. 14 in those rankings before moving up to No. 6. He is one of three-star quarterback Luke Nickel and four-star wide receiver Walden Charles who have committed to play for coach Mario Cristobal in 2025. Miami, in its second season under Cristobal, defeated Texas A&M at home to advance to 2-0 in Week 2. The Hurricanes are still not in the conference.
