Breaking:Detroit Lions extend contract of head coach Dan Campbell, general manager Brad Holmes
DETROIT (AP) — For centuries, the Detroit Lions looked for a coach and general manager who could guide them to victory. Three years ago, the team finally got what it was looking for when it hired coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad
The team also announced that Chris Spielman, a former Lions linebacker and an important behind-the-scenes staff member, had been given a multi-year deal as special assistant.
Rebuilding the roster has been attributed to Holmes, who joined the Lions before the 2021 season began. He made a wise selection by selecting tight end Jack Campbell (2023), tight end Sam LaPorta (2023, 34th overall), safety Brian Branch (2023), defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson (2022), receiver Jameson Williams (2022), lineman Penei Sewell (2021), and receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (2021).
During his 18 years with the Lions, Holmes rose through the ranks from the Los Angeles Rams to the position of director of college scouting. He led the Lions to a 12-5 record and the NFC championship game, earning him the 2023 NFL Executive of the Year award.
