Breaking:CB Caleb Chester Announces commitment to Texas longhorns over Arkansas and LSU
The athlete who the Longhorns added to their 2025 commitment list is a defensive back who was coveted by almost all of the area’s schools. Caleb Chester said that he has verbally committed to Texas, choosing the Longhorns over LSU, Texas A&M, TCU, and Arkansas.
Chester, a resident of Fort Bend Marshall, went to Texas in the spring to observe a UT practice before returning the weekend of June 7 for an official visit. For the Longhorns, those excursions were plenty to seal the deal. Getting stuff out of my way feels fantastic. Chester stated, “I really wanted to make my decision before the season, just enjoy football, enjoy my senior year, and take the recruiting aspect out of it.”
Chester had scheduled trips to Arkansas the weekend of June 21 and Texas A&M this coming weekend before his commitment. He claims that he is now completely committed to Texas and that those visits have been canceled.
Since I am the one making the choice, why not Austin? For a moment, Austin has been my favorite,” Chester remarked. The same issue was on my parents’ minds. I have been considering it for some time, but this week seemed like the right moment. There is really no excuse not to pull the trigger because all the boxes were ticked.
The McCombs School of Business was another selling point when recruiting Chester, who is 6-2 and weighs 175 pounds and wants to study business. That is very significant. One day, football must end. Football is not the only thing in life. Chester stated, “The McCombs School is highly essential because business is a big deal outside of football.”
Chester, a cornerback with good length, believes his strength is rather straightforward: he simply locks down his side of the field.
Man-to-man, I am exceedingly difficult to defeat. I play a lot of man-to-man. Chester remarked, “Coach just puts me on an island and forces me to follow receiver one, and I lock that down.” It is difficult to escape me because of my length, quickness, hips, and long arms. Coaches tell me that they like my ability to shift direction and speed the most.
“I provide discipline, hard work, education, and that enthusiasm.” Rivals.com rates Chester as a three-star recruit. He has over 40 scholarship offers in his possession.
