With a record of 21 victories in 349 starts while competing for teams like McLaren and Ferrari—the latter of which he won the driver’s championship with in 2007—Rikkonen announced his retirement from Formula One at the end of the previous season.
During a 2011 vacation from Formula One, the Finnish driver known as “The Iceman” competed in two races for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the NASCAR Truck Series and the Xfinity Series (then known as the Nationwide Series).
The media’s and Sky Sports’ attempts to find out if Kimi Raikkonen is thinking about rejoining McLaren have been thwarted. If Fernando Alonso decides to quit McLaren, the Finn is reportedly on the team’s “long-list” to take his position.
You previously stated that you would be content to complete your Formula One career at Ferrari. Would you be willing to join a different team, or is this still the case? Kimi: “I am not really sure. I stated that I would finish at Ferrari, and I believe that was already in 2007. Obviously, at some point, it did not look like that, and now it does. We shall see, but you never know what will happen next.
