BREAKING: Four-Star CB Elijah Dotson has Flipped his Commitment from Pitt to Michigan.
Pittsburgh —One of the top prospects in the Class of 2025 left the Pitt Panthers since they decided to go elsewhere after decommiting. Elijah Dotson, a four-star safety and defensive back, left Pitt to play for his local school of Belleville High School in Belleville, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.
Dotson just traveled to Michigan for an official visit from November 1–3, when they lost 38–17 to No. 1 Oregon in Week 10. After his official visit, EJ Holland of The Wolverine at On3 predicted with 60% confidence that Michigan would revoke Pitt’s promise, and he proved to be correct.
Five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, Dotson’s teammate at Belleville, is ranked as the top prospect in the Class of 2025 by On3 and 247Sports, while Rivals ranks him as the second-best recruit in the nation and he has committed to LSU. Michigan has made a huge NIL effort to acquire Underwood.
Michigan has made a huge NIL effort to acquire Underwood. They also have a better chance of flipping Underwood if they land Dotson.
On May 18, Dotson chose Pitt over his last four institutions, which included Penn State, Michigan, and Michigan State. One of the main reasons Dotson committed to the Panthers in the first place was because Archie Collins, their secondary coach and a recruiter from the Detroit area, made the offer before anyone else did.
Both for the 2023 spring game and for a spring practice, Dotson traveled to Pitt in March. In Week 3, he and several other Pitt Class of 2025 commits visited for the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia. He was friendly with the previous Michigan staff, but as head coach Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL’s Los Angeles Changers, the program changed.
Despite Dotson’s flip, Pitt still has several outstanding recruits in the Class of 2025, including three-star cornerbacks Shawn Lee Jr. and Joshua Guerrier and four-star defensive backs Mason Alexander and Cole Woodson.
