BREAKING: Derek Carr set to Depart New Orleans Saint following Interest from suitors on the open market
The future of Derek Carr with the New Orleans Saints is uncertain and should be determined shortly. He is unwilling to accept a pay reduction, and unless an exceptional circumstance presents itself, he is likely to choose not to waive his no-trade clause.
The issue is that teams would be hesitant to deal for Carr if it is obvious that the New Orleans Saints will cut him nevertheless. When Carr left the Las Vegas Raiders two years ago, the Saints were in a similar predicament.
Carr is worthy of being pursued, even though Saints fans may not be interested in him at all. As Garafolo stated, “there is not a lot of great options both in free agency and the draft.” If Carr leaves New Orleans, it will be interesting to see what kind of situation he ends up in. Will he end up like Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh, where a team is looking for a quarterback to raise their ceiling?
