The beloved Badgers guard had already traveled to Indiana and Maryland, two Big Ten rivals, but ultimately chose the Cornhuskers. After dropping far in the rotation, Essegian had a difficult 2023–24 season, averaging only 7.3 minutes and 3.2 points per game. Playing for Team Herro 16U on the EYBL Circuit, the rising junior guard had a great summer, scoring an amazing 17.5 points per game. Originally, the competition was scheduled to run from Thursday through Sunday.
