At Robin Gibb’s funeral, Bee Gee gives his brother a final homage and last words….
Bee Gee At his brother’s burial, Barry Gibb spoke movingly of his “magnificent mind and his lovely heart” and announced that Robin had at last been reunited with his twin.
The 62-year-old singer battled cancer, pneumonia, and a debilitating intestinal ailment before passing away from kidney failure last month. “Life is too brief,” Barry, the only Bee Gees member still alive, declared to the congregation at St. Mary’s Church in Thame, Oxfordshire. For Robin, it was far too brief. We ought to have had his amazing mind and lovely heart for twenty or thirty years.”
With reference to the late Maurice Gibb, who passed away in 2003, he stated: “Being twins means you are always going to be twins. You experience every feeling. And at last, they are linked. The loss of his twin brother was, in my opinion, Robin’s worst suffering throughout the previous ten years, and it had a variety of negative effects on him. And they are reunited now.”
As Robin’s elaborate white coffin entered the church to the Bee Gees song “How Deep Is Your Love,” mourners sobbed.
The last of the four Gibb brothers, Barry, presented his eulogy immediately before Gibb’s elderly mother, Barbara, departed the church.
“I believe that a great deal of things that may not be known to you are taking place at the moment. Additionally, a lot of individuals showed up on such a bad day. It is mind-boggling. This youngster was adored by so many people, including many notable persons in attendance. And it is really enjoyable to watch it.
All three of us have witnessed a lot of audiences, but nothing compares to the love I am witnessing in this crowd right now—for Rob, you know, for the music. And for me, it is a powerful experience.
I believe it is an event that none of us will soon forget. He will always have a special place in our hearts and minds.”
