The original spelling of this English rock group’s name was Smokey. The band is from Bradford, England, which is in Yorkshire. They are still traveling and have had numerous fantastic hit singles. “If You Think You Know How to Love Me,” “Do not Play Your Rock ‘n’ Roll to Me,” and “And Lay Back in the Arms of Someone” are some of their most well-known hits. They are well known for the hit song “Living Next Door to Alice.”
In 1965, the band’s original lineup included Ron Kelly on drums, Alan Silson on lead guitar and vocals, Terry Uttley on bass and vocals, and Chris Norman on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. With the success of the song “If You Think You Know How to Love Me,” from their second album Changing All the Time, they rose to popularity.
They finally released a number of singles with their third album, Midnight Café, including “Something is Making Me Blue,” “Wild Wild Angels,” and “I will Meet You After Midnight.”
The hits “It is Your Life” and “Needles and Pins” were from their next two albums.
