Mark Walter, the Dodgers’ chairman, did not mince words when he signed Ohtani last winter. He discussed the “checkered October past” of the club.
Although the Dodgers had been the best in baseball for more than ten years, winning only one World Series in 2020 proved challenging. Ohtani, however, has been committed to making that transformation. So much so that the president of baseball operations was rendered dumbfounded by what he said to him. Shohei Ohtani sent Andrew Friedman a lighthearted note on Wednesday as the Dodgers celebrated winning their second championship. Ohtani responded,
