Alice Cooper Dispels Claims That She and Him Have a “Death Pact”…
Despite a rumor from a British paper claiming otherwise, Alice Cooper is far from considering a suicide pact, with his new Hollywood Vampires album, Rise, out and a tour of his own about to embark on.
The shock rocker claims the tabloid misconstrued some of Cooper’s recent remarks regarding his marriage to Sheryl Goddard as evidence of a death pact between the two, a la Harry Potter, whereby one could not exist without the other. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame shock musician, who is frequently executed at least once during his gigs, says Billboard, “They like to sensationalize everything.” “‘What happens if one of you dies?'” they asked. and I responded, “Oh, it will not happen.” We have always discussed how we will travel together, whether it be in an airplane or—because she is standing right next to me—if I get struck by lightning while walking down the street and she dies too. The next thing you know, a paper titled “Alice’s Death Pact With Wife!” appears.
And our Internet suddenly went crazy. I thought to myself, “How far along is she?” and “Will Alice take her own life?” and everything else, and it all became blown out of proportion to the point of absurdity. I had to issue a declaration saying, “Look, nobody is sick, nobody is going to die.” I merely used a casual remark, and it got completely taken out of context.
