Zverev was overjoyed with the match’s result. He gave his brother Mischa credit for Cressy’s same serve and volley technique. He said,
Because he had recently graduated from college, he was a very challenging opponent to play against.I had to wait for my opportunities and exercise patience because I was familiar with this type of game because my brother Mischa, who is in the box, plays a similar style. I am really happy with how I performed.
With his first serve, the German won 82% of the points (51/62), and with his second serve, he won 60% of the points (15/25). He served quite well. Alexander made three double faults in addition to firing fifteen aces. Alexander prevailed in this match despite his poor break point conversion rate—he converted just 40% (4/10) of his attempts.
Mannarino will face Zverev in the third round.
