Notre Dame’s football program welcomed 23 high school recruits on December 20, National Signing Day.Additionally, the Irish staff reminded us all the next day that there are really no days off or opportunities for relaxation when it comes to recruiting.
Will Black, an offensive tackle for Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall, committed to Notre Dame on Thursday afternoon, giving the Irish a formidable four-star commitment to add to their double-digit verbals in the 2025 class.
Black attended the Notre Dame Lineman’s Challenge camp during his June visit to school. He accepted an offer from the Fighting Irish as a result of his efforts.Black was unable to travel to South Bend for a game day because his squad played on Saturdays. He did, however, visit the campus this past weekend to see a few practices and socialize with the coaches.
He had earlier informed Blue & Gold that he lacked a set timeframe for making a decision.Everything was predicated on “feel.”What did it feel like, then, when he declared his commitment to Notre Dame on December 21?
Before making his announcement, Black told Blue & Gold over the phone, “It is a mix of a couple things.”In addition to seeing the players, I have the finest relationship with the coaches of any school. The O-line room culture is fantastic.I think I will blend in rather nicely there.
Great academics and football, particularly sending offensive lineman to the NFL, go hand in hand. One of the best degrees in the nation is from Notre Dame.I will develop the most as a student and football player there, therefore it is the perfect fit for me.Black chose Notre Dame over Penn State, Michigan, and Alabama, the finalists. He also had offers of scholarships from seventeen other programs.
