Georgia Amoore, a point guard for the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team, was named to both the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Watch List and the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Watch List, the Naismith Awards and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Monday. Only 20 players were selected for the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Watch List, while 50 players were selected for the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Watch List. Amoore, who recently got the seventh-most votes in the Associated Press Preseason All-America women’s basketball poll, also was voted to the Preseason All-Southeastern Conference First Team by both the media and the coaches this October.
The graduate student played four seasons under head coach Kenny Brooks at Virginia Tech in the Atlantic Coast Conference (2021-24). Coming off an All-America season in 2023-24, she averaged 18.8 points per game and 6.8 assists per game as a senior.
