I’ am Jayden Loftin. Here’s why I signed to Tennessee vols football 2025 recruiting class
Jayden Loftin, a four-star defensive end, has committed to Tennessee, giving them further edge support in the future. This past weekend, Loftin made an official visit to Knoxville. In April, he also made an unauthorized trip to Tennessee. The “family nature of everything is what really stuck out” to him during the formal visit, he told VolReport.
Loftin, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound player who currently attends Somerville High School in New Jersey, verbally committed to Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel, defensive coordinator Tim Banks, defensive line coach Rodney Garner, and the rest of the Vols’ staff after the successful visit. Loftin is ranked as the No. 10 player in the Garden State and the No. 26 weak-side defense end in the 2025 class.
Over the weekend of May 31, Loftin also traveled to Wisconsin on business. He had scheduled official visits to Syracuse (June 14) and Penn State (June 21) before committing to the Tennessee.Loftin recently received an offer from Nebraska as well, and he visited the state informally in May.
Loftin received scholarship offers from a number of universities, including Boston College, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kansas, Liberty, Michigan State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and South Carolina, in addition to the ones already listed.
According to highschoolsports.nj.com, Loftin led the Pioneers to a postseason appearance last fall and recorded 5.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, one interception, and 33 total tackles as a junior in 2023. Loftin is a standout pass rusher who also wreaks havoc in the run game with his quick first step and ability to get into the opposing backfield.
Tennessee is ranked in the top 25 of the national team rankings and presently has 11 committed prospects in their 2025 recruiting class.Loftin, along with four-star prospect Ethan Utley, is the second defensive end to join the group.
