Just before he was scheduled to make his first appearance since having Tommy John surgery in the spring of last year, Justin Wilson, a bullpen pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, suffered yet another setback on Friday night.

When the Brewers lost to the Atlanta Braves 10–7, manager Craig Counsell brought Wilson out to the mound. But there was a problem. Before he was supposed to start the game, cameras in the bullpen saw Wilson clutching his left arm, looking like he was in excruciating pain.

According to MLB.com, Counsell stated that the pitcher “felt something really severe” in his triceps or lat. According to Counsell, “to get all the way back and be ready to do the fun stuff, which is pitch in a game,” “It is just very regrettable.”

Wilson was placed on the 15-day disabled list by Milwaukee on Saturday due to a strain in his left lat. To fill the void, the team brought up Triple-A Nashville’s Trevor Megill.

In his eight appearances with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2012, Wilson made his Major League debut and gave up just one earned run. In his 58 games as a full-time reliever the next season, he recorded a 2.08 ERA.
