Breaking:FORMER ALABAMA FIVE-STAR QUARTERBACK SIGNEE JULIAN SAYIN TRANSFERRING TO OHIO STATE
Five-star quarterback Julian Sayin (6-1, 195) of Carlsbad, California, who signed with Alabama in the 2024 recruiting class and registered on the transfer portal on Friday, said on Sunday that he would be starting his college career at Ohio State.
Sayin, the class’s fifth-ranked prospect and number one quarterback, had originally signed with Alabama and attended Crimson Tide classes before using the transfer portal after Nick Saban retired and former Washington head coach Karen DeBoer was hired.
After Sayin committed to the Crimson Tide on November 2, 2022, Ohio State made an unsuccessful attempt to sway him from Alabama by making an offer last January. Ohio State had previously locked in on five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola (6-3, 230) of Buford, Georgia, under center in the 2024 recruiting class before.
Sayin competed for 70.7 percent (502 of 7010) of his throws over his three years as a Carlsbad starter, throwing for 7,824 yards and 85 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions. He was crowned the best quarterback in his class after rushing for 548 yards and nine more touchdowns.
Sayin’s addition is probably going to cause some disruption in Ohio State’s quarterback room, which now includes Noland, who just started attending school at Ohio State, returning quarterbacks Devin
Sayin would undoubtedly be in the running for 2025 and beyond, which would make other younger quarterbacks on the squad reevaluate their options, even though Howard is seen to be the most probable candidate to start this next season.
