Breaking:2024 Rivals250 RB Anthony Carrie commits to MSU: ‘It just feels like home’
The 2024 cycle will see Michigan State’s first running back pledge. On Saturday, Anthony Carrie, a four-star running back from Tampa, Florida’s Carrollwood Day School, made the Spartans aware of his commitment.
Carrie told Spartans Illustrated, “I would say it simply seems like home,” when asked why he chose Michigan State. “I feel like they have a real plan for me and what I can become in the next three to four years, and they have all the means to make my ambitions come true on and off the field.”
Carrie, a Rivals250 prospect, is regarded as one of the country’s best running backs and one of the best recruits at any position. He is presently ranked as the 2024 class’s 103rd prospect overall, the 10th best running back, and the 19th best athlete in the Florida talent-rich state. He is now the cycle’s top-rated commit for MSU.
Carrie said, “Eating supper at Coach Tuck’s house was my favorite part of the formal visit.” “To be honest, that was very cool.”
Carrie also had the opportunity to meet Andrew Dennis, Reggie Powers III, and Camren Campbell, three other Michigan State pledges, on the official visit. All three candidates were visiting Carrie on official business at the time. Powers and Campbell would make their commitments public a few days later, but Dennis was already pledged to MSU. Since they both live in Tampa, Carrie was previously acquainted with Campbell.
He got along well with every recruit on campus that weekend, according to Carrie. In reference to his friendship with MSU’s other commits, Carrie remarked, “We were there together all weekend, so you are going to (naturally) connect with those guys.” “I basically just get along with everyone since I am a people person.”
Effrem Reed, the running backs coach, has clearly developed a close bond with Carrie over the past few years, which was a major factor in the choice. Carrie felt comfortable enough to commit to the Spartans because of the excellent work that Reed, his assistant Erik Highsmith, Tucker, and the rest of the Michigan State staff did during his
Carrie remarked, “Coach Reed and I have a long history together; he has been recruiting me since I was a freshman in high school.” “Our relationship is obviously very deep and comprehensive. He seems like the ideal guy to help me grow both spiritually and on the field. I would not have picked a school if I did not think my everyday guy could help me grow both on and off the field because he is my everyday guy.”
