The name Alexander Zverev is firmly ingrained in German tennis history. The gold medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics put the German at the top of the Olympic world in 2021.

He became the first German to win the gold medal in men’s singles tennis. On her way to success, the 26-year-old stunned world number one and overwhelming favorite Novak Djokovic in the semifinals before defeating Karen Khachanov

Zverev was introduced to tennis at a young age because both of his parents were accomplished tennis players in the former Soviet Union. He was born in Hamburg in 1997 to Russian parents. Following the fall of the Soviet Union, they relocated to Germany, where they taught their little son how to play tennis. At the age of three, he started training under his mother’s tutelage.
