Speaking about Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese claims that the WNBA has…
Angel Reese wants supporters of women’s basketball to know that she and her colleagues have contributed to the sport’s rising prominence.
Speaking to media on Monday, June 3, the WNBA player discussed the Chicago Sky’s defeat to the Indiana Fever on Saturday, June 1, as well as the impact Caitlin Clark has had on the league.
“I believe that a lot of people are currently following women’s basketball. Since the national championship game, everything has started. I’ve been coping with this for the past two years, and I acknowledge that, yes, there have undoubtedly been hurtful remarks said about me. However, given the state of women’s basketball, I’ll take it, she remarked.
“You would never think that people would be discussing women’s basketball,” the speaker said. Players are arriving at games. Reese stated, “We have sold-out arenas and celebrities attending games solely for a single game.” “And considering that, I’ll accept the position. I know I’ll be remembered as the evil guy, so I’ll keep playing that part and be that for my teammates.”
“I’ll look back in 20 years and be like: ‘Yeah, the reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person, it’s because of me too, and I want you to realize that,” Reese said. Like it’s not simply one person’s fault. Many of us have contributed a great deal to this game.”
According to the publications, the league’s statement further stated, “In addition, the Sky organization has been fined $5,000 for failing to ensure that all players comply with WNBA media policies.” In addition to Reese, Chennedy Carter, her teammate, was also elevated to a flagrant 1 violation for the foul she committed in the third quarter after knocking Clark to the ground.
“That was something on my behalf that I wasn’t able to do at the moment just because of the timeline of it but [I’m] making sure moving forward I’ll take time out for you guys,” she said.
