Watch LeBron James Advise Bronny During Rookie’s Regular Season Debut
Before making his NBA regular season debut Tuesday night at Crypto.com Arena, LeBron James, the star forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, gave his son, rookie point guard Bronny, some advice.
The Los Angeles All-Star took a moment to be a father at the team’s season opening against the Minnesota Timberwolves, even though the father and kid were sitting on the same bench.
“You do realize how intense it is? But just have fun,” James advised his son. “Go out and play hard; do not worry about blunders.”
James and Bronny became the first father-son team in NBA history to share the court toward the conclusion of the second quarter. Fans had been anticipating this moment since the Lakers selected Bronny in the June draft.
James discussed the opening night victory postgame and the amazing moment he shared with Bronny.
“I will always remember that particular moment when we were at the scorer’s table together, checking in together. I will never forget that moment, no matter how old I get.
Before the game, the anticipation for the momentous occasion was evident. Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr., the first father-son pair to play on the same Major League Baseball team, were among the home crowd.
From 1990 to 1991, the Griffeys were teammates with the Seattle Mariners. In 2024, the father-son team from MLB got to see the first father-son team from the NBA.
