Brain Harold May Announces Retirement, Marking the End of a Distinguished Acting Career……….π
The 74-year-old Brian May said he was in a “sad place” when he released his first solo album, Back To The Light, in 1992. The guitarist was going through a rough time; he had split from his first wife Christine Mullen in 1988, lost his father Harold May to illness in 1991, and lost his buddy and frontman for Queen, Freddie Mercury, to HIV/AIDS a few months earlier.
“I was looking for a new light, a new road, and this was it at the end of Queen.” And in a sense, it still is it,” he continued to The Telegraph.
Back to the Light, a top 10 album that produced two major singles, has been out of circulation for more than 15 years and has never been uploaded to any streaming service.
For the enjoyment of fans, it is now being re-released and repackaged with additional music.
Reflecting on the several terrible losses he suffered in the years before the album’s recording, Brian said it was a difficult record to make.
