During media day on Monday, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry talks to reporters about his experience winning an Olympic gold medal in Paris and his expectations for this season. Steph Curry unexpectedly won the 2024–25 NBA preseason general manager survey, making him the league’s top leader.

The Warriors star led a number of other categories in the yearly preseason survey, including greatest shooter, best without the ball, and someone you would like to take a shot when the game was close. Curry placed in the top five in three other categories, including best point guard, best shooting guard, and player who causes opposing coaches to make the most adjustments, because to his extraordinary shooting skills and ability to dismantle opposing defenses. Not only did Curry place highly in the GM survey, but Steve Kerr also landed in the top five for three coaching categories: best offensive coach, best manager/motivator, and best head coach.
The 36-year-old is the undisputed leader in the locker room and the face of the Warriors, and his dedication to the team over the long term has helped it navigate the rough waters of the NBA. Curry proved during the Olympics in Paris that he still possesses elite basketball skills, and the Warriors are well-positioned to emerge from the NBA desert and return to prominence. Despite a strong comeback to win the 2022 NBA Finals, the team has found itself in a precarious position following two inconsistent seasons.
The Warriors retained most of the roster from the previous season despite trading Klay Thompson in the offseason. The hope is that the young core of Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and Trayce Jackson-Davis can continue to grow into a top team similar to the Golden State teams of the past.
