Original ‘The Crow’ Director Condemns Remake; Says It Should…..
The iconic movie, The Crow, directed by Alex Proyas in 1994 has been the subject of much discussion recently due to the upcoming remake. The original film, based on the graphic novel, tells the story of a man who returns from the dead to avenge the murder of him and his fiancée. Tragically, the production of the film was marred by the untimely death of its lead actor, Brandon Lee, son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee. Now, as a new version is set to hit the screens and Proyas has expressed his thoughts on the matter.
Proyas, in a diplomatic manner, expressed his lack of joy in seeing negativity towards the work of fellow filmmakers. He acknowledged the good intentions of the cast and crew but stated that the fan response “speaks volumes” about their feelings towards the remake. Proyas clearly understands the emotional connection fans have to the original film and recognizes the significance of Brandon Lee‘s performance.
The debate over The Crow is getting more and more intense as its adaptation gets closer to being released. The original director, Alex Proyas, has voiced his opinions clearly, saying he thinks the movie should go on as a tribute to Brandon Lee.
