Following a court decision, the contentious conservatorship that oversaw pop singer Britney Spears’s personal and financial matters for 13 years has finally come to an end.
The celebrity called the historic court proceeding in Los Angeles the “greatest day ever” after it concluded.
Judge Brenda Penny dismissed her father, who has adamantly denied any misconduct, from his position during a September follow-up hearing.
Now that the judge has made the decision to halt it entirely, supporters have been cheering and celebrating outside the court since Friday.
After hearing testimony for thirty minutes, the judge delivered her verdict. She added two caveats, stating that an accountant acting as a temporary conservator should continue to have some responsibilities, but finally declared the legal arrangement to be “effective today… therefore terminated.”
For the first time since 2008, the singer will now be able to decide how to manage her estimated $60 million (about £45 million) fortune and will have the autonomy to make her own decisions on her health and personal life.
In another message on Twitter, she wrote, “It is unbelievable!!!!!” Once more … nicest day ever!!!!,” she wrote on social media, beside her fiancé Sam Asghari, who added: “Today made history. Britney is No Longer in Prison.”
